The Sphere-O-Bot has been fully tested and it is completely functional using:
INKSCAPE 0.91: https://inkscape.org/en/download/
Eggbot Plugin version 2.4.0: https://github.com/evil-mad/EggBot/releases/tag/v2.4.0

Those are the recommended software versions to use.

Hello

Is this recommendation for Windows systems as well as for Mac OS ?

I am using MacBook Pro and tried many Inkscape Eggbot plugin combinations without success.

The Eggbot Control extension v2.4.0 will NOT install with Inkscape 0.91; the error message indicates that Inkscape 0.47 or higher should be installed. But even after I managed to install Inkscape 0.47 and also 0.48.5 – neither combination worked.

I get the error message “ Failed to connect to Eggbot 🙁 “

Thank you.

We strongly recommend using the new portable version. It can be found here

We have created a portable version of the latest Inkscape software. With the eggbot plugin files already installed and configured. Just download it , extract into a folder and launch it.

Has there been any changes to the files need to make the Sphere-O-Bot to work? I have windows 10 and I purchased the electronics kit back around March 2021. I have tried all the steps in the instructions and I have not been able to make it work.

Sure! Could you be more specific? What is the problem? Connecting the Sphere-o-bot to the computer? Does it recognize the control board?

What inkscape version are you using? And Eggbot plugin?

@robotn1

thank you for answering my request for help. Please be patient with me I am not a programmer. My starting issue is that when I connect the board (with the servo, 2 motor drivers and the motors) I can not upload to the board. I get an upload error has accrued on Arduino IDE. If I unplug all components from the board I can upload the code to the board but for some reason it creates two different devices. One as the Arduino Zero and the other Arduino Zero bootloader. And if I disconnect the board from the computer to reconnect all of its devices the computer recognizes the board as an undiscoverable device. And of course in Inkscape I just get connection failed error.

It may be a damaged A4988 module. Do this:

Just plug one A4988 and try to connect the DEVIA to the computer. Does it get recognized? If no: disconnect everything and try again, but this time, using the other A4988 module. Does it work this time?

Just in case, reprogram the DEVIA again, following these steps:

1) completely uninstall your current Arduino IDE, even delete the Arduino library folder (it would be My Documents\Arduino\libraries)
2) Install the Arduino IDE 1.8.6 (the latest one we know does not create any conflict)
3) Install the SAMD Boards library 1.8.10.
4) Try to compile again the code (attach to this message. If you have questions about how to upload it, go here: https://www.jjrobots.com/sphere-o-bot-assembly-and-user-guide/) and check you are not having any warning messages. If so, upload the code to the DEVIA control board.
5) Done!

NOTE:
remember to select the correct Arduino Board, in this case: ARDUINO/GENUINO ZERO (native USB port). In the case you can not see that board option: install the “Arduino SAMD Boards (32-bits ARM Cortex-M0+)” libraries. Go to Tools->Board->Boards Manager… and install the “Arduino SAMD Boards (32-bits ARM Cortex-M0+) (version 1.8.10)

Selecting the right board

Code to be uploaded attached.
